2010 Springfield Motorcycle Show
If you didn't make this event, you missed a great time!

What's cooler than hanging out with a bunch of bikers, around a bunch of really cool motorcycles in the middle of the Winter? OK, maybe riding my motorcycle in warmer weather... Well, it's January here in New England so this will have to do!

As always, Doug Sousa and the rest of the staff at OSEG did a great job pulling together another awesome show.

They set us up with our usual spot right next to the Indian Motorcycle exhibit which I'd like to say was off the hook this year! Normally, the Springfield Museums bring in a great exhibit. The fellow who normally brings these in the museum was out of town this year so it looked like there might not be a classic Indian exhibit. CONTINUED BELOW

Tim Baer caught wind of this news and spoke to Doug about bringing some classic Indians owned by his family and friends. Though I love the bikes the museum has been bringing out these last few years, it was really cool to see some different bikes on display this year.

Tim has been exhibiting at the show for the last several years. They've written a series of books on this history of motorcycling and on the Indian Motorcycles. His father and uncle have some wonderful experiences to share along with some fantastic photos and video footage. For more info on purchasing these books, visit our Books section of the site.

There were many of the faces we've become used to seeing at the show and a whole bunch of new ones this year. Some of our old friends included Tibby's Harley Davidson of Springfield. They have a fantastic display of bikes and a great staff to assist show goers in selecting one.

Roar Motorcycles was also there. For those who don't know, Roar customizes bikes for women and has released the 2010 Roar WilKat, a production bike designed specifically for you ladies. If you're in the market for a bike, you should really check them out. Contact me if you need more info...

Funny story, the above picture is of me with Ed Avery from Roar and his wife. I'm wearing my Man Enough to Roar t-shirt, a gift from Jacki Center. We'd visited Roar in Daytona the week before the show and I promised I'd wear it at the show. I ran into Ed and his wife wandering around so they had to have a picture!

There was live music, a fashion show hosted by Leslie of Lazer 99.3, an awesome custom bike show and much more.

This years special guest was Dave Perewitz, one of the premier custom bike builders in the country. I had hoped to interview Dave before the show began but we'd gotten in a little late and didn't get the chance. I did speak with Dave and we agreed to meet at his shop when the weather warmed a bit. Perhaps we can hit the road for a little ride!
Other special guests made appearances including Motocross' John Dowd. John has been racing nationally for years and is a legend locally. He stopped in to sign a few autographs for show goers.

We also had the opportunity to meet and interview ATV's Most Wanted. This is a group of beautiful women who happen to race quads. Seriously, they race nationally and support their efforts through the sale of merchandise such as posters and calendars. Stop by the Ladies section of the site and check out the interview. Also, there's a link where you can get your ATV's Most Wanted merchandise.

Pioneer Valley Riders Training was there, as was the Haymond Group and Trantolo and Trantolo (they're going to kill me for mentioning them in the same sentence). They were both promoting their services and rides they're sponsoring this year.

All in all, the show was fantastic! I spoke to Doug and he indicated the attendance was roughly the same as last year. Truly a win in this down economy.

When asked what was popular this year he responded "We were pleased to have Dave Perewitz with this year as our 'Feature Guest'. Dave is highly regarded around the world for his great motorcycle paint jobs and for being one of the true masters of the motorcycle world. He was greatly received for his work and friendly attitude, with folk commenting how approachable he is."

He went on to say "We are so please that so many motorcycle enthusiasts came out in force for this years show! From great local builders to world renown masters. Manufacturers of the very 'newest motorcycles, the 'new' Indian once the oldest, to the longest running manufacturer, Harley-Davidson. Right through Suzuki, Yamaha, Victory and the worlds only motorcycle company that builds just for women, Roar Motorcycles. We had plenty of other great displays like the Antique Motorcycle Club of America's Yankee Chapter 'Timeline of American Motorcycles' that you just won't find at any other shows! We had nice bikes and plenty of them and we thank them and their owners for being with us. Just like the enthusiasts that poured through the doors "we love 'em all!"

If you missed the show this year, get on out next year and get a taste of summer in the middle of January.
