Ladies Only

In honor of Lady's Riding Month we put together the following video:

This section of the site has been set aside for you lady riders out there.

Let's face it, most of the motorcycle content you find is geared toward men. Well, here's a place for us woman to get together! My name is Christine and I began riding this past spring and I'm hooked!

My first experience on a bike was me sitting on the tank of my dad's motorcycle riding around the yard. In addition, my Uncle Tim has been an avid Harley rider as long as I can remember. In fact, he's a Harley mechanic for one of the larger dealers in sunny Florida.

I'd longed to learn to ride for many years. In 2005, my husband and I had an opportunity to be in Lake George, NY for the Americade. The desire to ride was stronger than ever. Last winter I really began to push my husband who hadn't riden in years. He begrudgingly decided to go through the motorcycle safety course with me this past spring. Long story short, he's hooked too and is the one who thought of designing this site to keep himself busy this winter.

We plan to offer all sorts of content here including rides for us ladies, sponsors geared towards us, pictures and much more. If you have any ideas or would like to contribute to the site, please contact me at ccreswell@coolbikerides.com. I'd love to hear from you!

We presently have two sponsors for these ladies pages, one is www.her-motorcycle.com and the other is www.vavavroomonline.com. They are both wonderful sites. The first contains all sorts of information about riding written by a woman for women. Christine (designer of her-motorcycle), has done a wonderful job of providing riding tips, safety tips and a great deal more. She has sponsored our Ladies Only Ride this spring so make sure you pay her a little visit. Va Va Vroom is run by Denise. She's got some awesome riding shirts, tanks, and other clothing she's designed just for the lady rider. I'm ordering a new tank this week! Make sure to stop in and pick up yours.

Are you looking for a bike made just for a woman? There's more and more companies moving into this market. There's one custom shop that specializes in making custom choppers for women. If you're interested, check out their page at http://www.chopperchickcrew.com/. Additionally, there's a newer company in Daytona, FL called ROAR Motorcycles, which also specializes in making custom bikes for just us girls. I had a chance to see these at the recent Springfield Motorcycle Show and these things are incredible. I hope to interview Kathy, the owner, in the very near future so make sure you keep checking back. I'll post it here as soon as I do. Here's a picture we took in their booth.

Here's a video done by Sasha Mullins. Enjoy:

American Borders by Carla King. This is a great story of a woman who rode a Russian bike called the Ural around the borders of the US.  Carla King is an eloquent writer with great stories to tell as she makes her way around the borders of the US.  She captures your attention in the first chapters when she tells of a trist that she has with a french guy in her travels and continues with great details of being a women travelling solo.  It is an empowering story that compells us women to take life by the horns and follow our dreams regardless of what others may think. This picture was taken at the Springfield Motorcycle Show in West Sprindfield, MA in 2008. It looks identical to the bike Carla rode on her journey!

Breaking the Limit by Karen Larsen.  This is a story of an ambitious young women attempting and succeeding to come to terms with a potentially serious medical diagnosis by riding her way through the states, Canada and Alaska on her trusted steed, Lucy.  She tells many tales of the people she meets along the way, but her connection is strongest when she sees her biological mother again and meets her biological father and his family for the first time.  Her love for family, the wind and the road are all refreshing.  She demonstrates that women can be independent, free and happy if they choose to.  She is a beautiful picture of strenght in a women and compels us to follow our hearts.
