Street Sweeper's Are Out

Billy W. from Chicopee took his 1979 Triumph out for a ride the other night with his good friend Dan and decided to share the story with us.

Dan is new the the riding world and has recently picked up his first bike! Welcome to the club...

While he was out, Bill saw his first street sweeper of the year out cleaning up the roads for our motorcycles. I hope you enjoy!

I finally catch a street sweeper in action! Spring is upon up!

I took a nice run up to visit Dan D. in Greenfield. He just purchased his first new Triumph Bonneville last week.

I shot up 91N to meet Dan and his wife at Pete's Seafood restaurant indowntown Greenfield on School St. Does any else find that ironic? (fish onSchool St.) I barely made it into the place before they closed as there weretwo gentlemen outside that chatted me up about my classic Bonneville. One ofthem had owned a Norton years ago and said he was too old now. I told himyou are never too old. His friend agreed. There was a twinkle in his eye ashe took a closer look. I had to excuse myself as I literally had 4 minutesbefore they closed. How do I know that? The pregnant cashier told me when Iwalked in. Anyway, I highly recommend this place. I recommend the (sea)scallop boat or (haddock)fish & chips. Their fried foods are very lightlybattered. It is always good and reasonably priced. It's "all-you-can-eat" onTuesdays and Saturdays!!! They also have soft serve. They close at 8pm soget there early enough!

After dinner Dan and I headed up Rt2 to Shelburne Falls, MA. We stopped at agreat little pub called the West End Pub for hot chocolate. Dan and make apact to never to mix riding with alcohol. This pub is very quaint with adeck and windows facing the river. It is right by the bridge of flowers. Thewaitress was very nice. Don't tell anyone but the hot chocolate was servedwith real whip cream and some chocolate drizzle on top. It hit the spot. Itwas worth $2 for the treat and a place to sit, warm up and chat for a while.I have included their website too:  www.westendpub.wp.net/

If it were during the day the Shelburne Falls Glacial Potholes is greatlittle site seeing spot and it is free. Can I submit these for the largestpothole competition? Just kidding. Here is a link to a YouTube video of thepotholes.

We headed back down route 2 towards Greenfield. Words of caution, watch yourspeed. There was a speed trap between Greenfield and Shelburne Falls on Rt2.Seems Rt2 is well protected especially at night in MANY areas. We are ticketfree.

It was clear and the moon was bright tonight which made for a great nighttime ride. Was it worth the 100 mile round trip for a scallop dinner and a late nighthot chocolate? ABSOLUTELY!
